    Standard Chartered initiated coverage of Morpho on Wednesday with a long-term price target of US$60 (AU$87) by the end of 2030, arguing the decentralised lending protocol\u2019s token is positioned to outperform both Bitcoin and Ether over the period.<\/p>\n

    The forecast came from Geoff Kendrick, the bank\u2019s global head of digital assets research, who mapped a multi-year path for the token starting from about US$3.50 (AU$5.08) in 2026 and rising through the second half of the decade to reach US$40 (AU$58) in 2029 before hitting the 2030 target.<\/p>\n

    Morpho Markets operates as an onchain lending marketplace, while Morpho Vaults provides infrastructure for onchain banks and asset-management institutions, a combination the bank sees as capturing both retail borrowing and institutional deposits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Morpho Gains on Favourable Reporting<\/h2>\n

    Standard Chartered expects assets deployed on the protocol to expand roughly in line with its projection for 37-fold growth in total DeFi assets by the end of 2030. It also pointed to Morpho\u2019s strengthened balance sheet following a US$175 million (AU$253.75 million) venture funding round as evidence the protocol can scale.<\/p>\n

    \u201cGiven its status as one of the largest DeFi lending protocols and its comfortable financial position, we think Morpho can scale to meet the expanding base of assets deployed in DeFi\u201d, the bank stated in its coverage note.<\/p>\n

    The call places Morpho ahead of the two largest cryptocurrencies in Standard Chartered\u2019s relative-return framework, an aggressive stance for a protocol whose deposit base currently sits at roughly a quarter of rival Aave\u2019s scale.<\/p>\n

    The token reacted sharply, rising more than 13% within 24 hours of the report\u2019s release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
