More President Donald J. Trump $1 coins were struck, while production continued for Enduring Liberty half dollars and two of the five quarter designs. The Federal Reserve then distributes the coins through its terminals to commercial banks and other financial institutions, helping maintain the supply needed to meet everyday public demand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>August Production by Denomination<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recent totals reflect a major change in the Mint\u2019s circulating coin mix. At the direction of the Treasury, the U.S. Mint ended the production of cents for circulation in July 2025, removing what had long been its highest-volume denomination from circulating production. The Federal Reserve no longer routinely orders dollar coins for general circulation, but the Mint continues to strike them for collector products. The same was true of half dollars until Federal Reserve orders resumed in 2021. Half dollars have been produced for circulation each year since, though in much smaller quantities than other denominations. The Mint also continues to strike circulating-quality half dollars for collector products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mintages of 2026 Semiquincentennial Half Dollars<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It remains unclear how many 2026 half dollars have been produced specifically for general circulation. U.S. Mint figures show the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>January: +7.5 million from Denver and +6.3 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>February: +3 million from Denver and +1.8 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>March: +7.6 million from Denver and +3.2 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>April: +3.6 million from Denver and +7.6 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>May: +6.0 million from Denver and +6.0 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>June: +8.7 million from Denver and +1.0 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>July: +6.4 million from Denver and +6.6 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>August: +4.8 million from Denver and +2.9 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Combined production through August totals 47.6 million coins from Denver and 35.4 million from Philadelphia \u2014 83 million coins overall. That is already more than double the 34 million half dollars produced during all of 2025, when Denver struck 19.8 million and Philadelphia produced 14.2 million.<\/p>\n<p>On May 26, the U.S. Mint opened sales of 2026-P and 2026-D Enduring Liberty half dollars in rolls and bags containing equal numbers from each facility. Through Aug. 30, sales totaled 12.35 million coins. The rolls have been unavailable for some time, with sales essentially at the allotted 100,000-product limit. Bags remained available throughout August, with roughly 8,200 of the 50,000-product limit still available at month\u2019s end.<\/p>\n<p>In August, the Mint presented 2,983 specially struck 1776 ~ 2026 Enduring Liberty half dollars to the National 9\/11 Memorial &amp; Museum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mintages of Native American Dollars<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No 2026 Native American dollars were produced in August. U.S. Mint figures show:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>January: +140,000 from Denver<\/li>\n<li>February: +840,000 from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>March: +840,000 from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>April: +2.55 million from Denver and +1.25 million from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>May: None<\/li>\n<li>June: +560,000 from Denver and +720,000 from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>July: +150,000 from Denver and +250,000 from Philadelphia<\/li>\n<li>August: None<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Combined production through August totals 3.4 million coins from Denver and 3.9 million from Philadelphia \u2014 7.3 million coins overall.<\/p>\n<p>For comparison, 2025 production reached 5.18 million coins, including 2.52 million from Denver and 2.66 million from Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 27, the U.S. Mint began selling 2026-P and 2026-D Native American dollars, with buyers able to choose coins struck at either the Philadelphia or Denver Mint. Through Aug. 30, combined sales totaled 1,086,300 coins, split nearly evenly between the two facilities. Both options have remained unavailable from the Mint for some time. Trump $1 coin continued in August. The Philadelphia Mint struck an additional 7.4 million pieces after producing 9 million in July, bringing the total to 16.4 million coins. Included among those products are 250,000 dollars struck July 4 with a JULY 4th privy mark and randomly mixed into the rolls and bags. The bags became unavailable in less than an hour, while the rolls remained available for about 7 hours and 20 minutes. Product limits of 150,000 rolls and 50,000 bags cover at most 8.75 million coins. <\/p>\n<p>The Mint also said Sept. 2 that Trump dollars will be released into circulation.
