Robinhood is adding $25 million of Bitcoin to its balance sheet after executives previously debated whether corporate crypto holdings would benefit shareholders.<\/p>\n

Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood\u2019s senior vice president and general manager of crypto and international, announced the allocation Wednesday, saying the brokerage views Bitcoin as a strategic addition to diversify its assets.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe firmly in the future of crypto,\u201d Kerbrat said on X.<\/p>\n

The allocation is small relative to Robinhood\u2019s financial resources, but it represents a shift in how the brokerage uses its own capital. Until now, Robinhood\u2019s crypto strategy has largely centered on giving customers access to digital assets, acquiring infrastructure and expanding into services such as tokenization, staking and institutional trading.<\/p>\n

The company held $5.362 billion in cash and cash equivalents as of June 30, 2026, along with $155 million in stablecoins, according to its second-quarter filing. The $25 million allocation is equivalent to less than 0.5% of that reported cash balance.<\/p>\n

Its limited size makes the move more of a strategic signal than a material bet on Bitcoin\u2019s price.<\/p>\n

Robinhood\u2019s earlier Bitcoin treasury debate<\/h2>\n

The allocation marks a notable change from Robinhood\u2019s position less than a year ago, when executives openly questioned whether buying Bitcoin with company funds would benefit shareholders.<\/p>\n

Asked during Robinhood\u2019s third-quarter 2025 earnings call whether the company would adopt Bitcoin or other digital assets as part of its corporate treasury, finance executive Shiv Verma said management had spent considerable time debating the idea.<\/p>\n

The central concern was capital allocation.<\/p>\n

Putting Bitcoin on the balance sheet could align Robinhood more closely with the crypto community, Verma said, but shareholders could already buy Bitcoin directly through Robinhood. Management also had to weigh a treasury allocation against investments in engineering, products and other growth initiatives. At the time, Verma said the company was \u201cstill thinking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robinhood has now resolved at least part of that debate in favor of holding the asset itself.<\/p>\n
