JPMorgan Sees Bitcoin Outperforming Stocks and Gold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div id=\"blockquote-block_d4c4d4630f5c350c6862934e42182693\" class=\"blockquote-container\" style=\"border-color: #5100fc\">\n<div class=\"blockquote-text\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JPMorgan Asset Management forecasts Bitcoin delivering 10% annual returns over the next decade in its base case, compared with 17% in a bull scenario and -9.7% in a bear scenario.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its Bitcoin forecast exceeds projected returns for US equities, bonds and gold, despite CEO Jamie Dimon\u2019s longstanding criticism of the crypto.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JPMorgan estimates Bitcoin\u2019s annualised volatility at 55%, far above emerging-market equities at 21.4% and US small caps at 21%.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bank views Bitcoin primarily as a speculative asset and hedge against monetary easing rather than a reliable portfolio diversifier.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How the tables have turned. JPMorgan CEO Jamie \u201cPet Rock\u201d Dimon has called Bitcoin a \u201cfraud\u201d, \u201cworthless\u201d and a \u201chyped-up fraud\u201d, followed by his famous pet rock comments. He told CNBC at Davos that he\u2019d \u201ccall it the pet rock\u201d, alleging Bitcoin essentially has no function.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He made those comments between 2017 and 2024, so not that long ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, JPMorgan\u2019s (JPM) analysts have long taken a more measured view of Bitcoin. Now, the bank\u2019s asset management division has published its first long-term Bitcoin forecast, putting the OG crypto ahead of stocks, bonds and gold over the next decade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their book, Bitcoin will gain 10% per year over the next decade \u2013 in the base-case scenario, that is. They see a bear scenario at -9.7% and a bull case at 17%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bank estimates Bitcoin\u2019s growth in comparison to 5.6%\u20136.6% growth in US bonds, 5.5% in gold and 7.5% and 7.7% in large- and small-cap US equities respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While this is a stark contrast to when Dimon said he\u2019d fire any trader at his firm who traded Bitcoin, it isn\u2019t to say the bank has completely changed its views.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read more:<\/strong> <strong>BlackRock Makes a Splash with New Bitcoin ETF Filing as IBIT Takes in US$665M<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-jpmorgan-still-sees-a-lot-of-volatility-nbsp-nbsp\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">JPMorgan Still Sees a Lot of Volatility\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">JPMorgan Asset Management still calls Bitcoin volatile and unstable compared to other assets, with an annualised volatility rate of 55%, the highest rate for any asset in its report.
