{"id":5554,"date":"2026-01-13T09:21:32","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T09:21:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptonews.uk.com\/?p=5554"},"modified":"2026-01-13T09:21:32","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T09:21:32","slug":"hoskinson-doubts-clarity-act-timeline-urges-trump-crypto-adviser-to-step-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptonews.uk.com\/?p=5554","title":{"rendered":"Hoskinson Doubts CLARITY Act Timeline, Urges Trump Crypto Adviser to Step Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div id=\"blockquote-block_818d3cb5c6e71ce36155831d9e95bece\" class=\"blockquote-container\" style=\"border-color: #5100fc\">\n<div class=\"blockquote-text\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson believes the crypto market structure legislation known as the CLARITY Act is unlikely to pass into law in Q1 of 2026.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hoskinson also said if the bill fails to pass in Q1, the Trump administration\u2019s \u2019crypto czar\u2019 David Sacks should resign from his position.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also hit out at the GENIUS Act for doing nothing for crypto and instead simply handing over control of the industry to TradFi giants, like BlackRock and Goldman Sachs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Founder of the Cardano network Charles Hoskinson believes the US Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act) is unlikely to pass into law this quarter and that \u201ccrypto czar\u201d David Sacks should resign over his failure to strengthen the crypto industry.<\/p>\n<p>Hoskinson aired his doubts on crypto influencer Scott Melker\u2019s \u2018The Wolf of All Streets\u2019 podcast on Sunday, telling Melker that he doesn\u2019t \u201cthink the CLARITY Act is going to pass this quarter.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hoskinson further cautioned that if the bill fails to pass before the US midterm elections due in November, the less crypto-friendly Democrats may take back control of the House of Representatives and the opportunity to pass the bill could be lost for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p>If the CLARITY Act does indeed fail to pass into law this quarter as he expects, Hoskinson said Sacks should resign, due to \u201cutterly failing\u201d the crypto industry since stepping into the role in late 2024.<\/p>\n<div id=\"blockquote-block_2e0dc85d7563f97fcc9b065c5b7a6ed6\" class=\"blockquote-container variant-personal\">\n<div class=\"blockquote-text\">\n<p><em>If you\u2019re the czar and you\u2019re in charge of this whole thing, I got to judge you by your track record. Most cryptos are down 40 to 50% since Trump took office. So the industry is unhealthy.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"blockquote-attribution\">\n        <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"author-image lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.cryptonews.com.au\/2024\/05\/20135412\/Charles-Hoskinson-1.png\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.cryptonews.com.au\/2024\/05\/20135412\/Charles-Hoskinson-1.png\" class=\"author-image\" data-eio=\"l\"\/>        Charles Hoskinson, Cardano founder    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Hoskinson argued that Sacks has failed the crypto industry in three key areas \u2014 price action, regulatory clarity, and establishing a foundation on top of which new projects can flourish.<\/p>\n<p>The CLARITY Act was first introduced into the US House of Representatives in May of 2025. Its purpose is to clarify the roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in overseeing the market.<\/p>\n<p>Both the Senate Banking Committee and the Senate Agriculture Committee are expected to vote on the draft bill on Thursday, after which there should be a clearer indication of the likelihood of it passing into law this quarter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related:<\/strong> Coinbase Warns Lawmakers: Stablecoin Reward Limits Could Upend Crypto Bill<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-hoskinson-slams-genius-act-as-handing-keys-to-crypto-kingdom-to-tradfi\">Hoskinson Slams GENIUS Act as Handing Keys to \u201cCrypto Kingdom\u201d to TradFi<\/h2>\n<p>Hoskinson also argued that the much-vaunted stablecoin legislation, the GENIUS Act, which passed into law last year, hasn\u2019t done much at all for crypto, but has instead primarily benefitted large banks and financial institutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt [the GENIUS Act] centralises the industry around BlackRock, Cantor, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley and all these big guys,\u201d Hoskinson said.
