    A month after Nasdaq disclosed that it wants to extend US equities trading to nearly 24 hours a day, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is now planning to offer tokenised securities trading.<\/p>\n

    Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), which owns the NYSE, said it plans to launch a new NYSE venue later this year that would list tokenised stocks and tokenised exchange-traded funds (ETFs), subject to regulatory approval.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    The system will combine NYSE\u2019s order-matching technology with private blockchain networks to run what ICE describes as a real-time market for tokenised instruments.<\/p>\n

    So, What Happens to DeFi?<\/h2>\n

    ICE is pitching the venue as an upgrade to how securities move, not just when they trade. The company says the platform is designed to support 24\/7 operations, faster settlement, orders expressed in dollar amounts rather than share quantities, and funding via stablecoins.<\/p>\n

    This caused some interesting reactions on Crypto Twitter; basically, you\u2019re taking the best parts of crypto and putting them inside a system people already trust, so you get nonstop trading, faster settlement, and the ability to buy small pieces of assets. But instead of risky tokens, you\u2019re trading well-known things like major stocks and funds under clear rules.<\/p>\n

    That matters because a lot of money sits in DeFi and altcoins mainly to get those crypto-style benefits. All things considered, if investors can get the same flexibility with familiar assets, there is less reason to keep money in volatile or experimental tokens.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Over time, that pulls liquidity away from smaller coins, making them harder to trade and more unstable in price.<\/p>\n
