Just yesterday we reported that Michael Saylor said Strategy is “back”, after a two-month break from buying Bitcoin. Now, an 8-K filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) shows that they’re back indeed.
According to the filing, Strategy bought 4,603 Bitcoin for US$370 million (AU$516 million) at an average price of US$80,318 (AU$112,020). Strategy now holds 845,050 Bitcoin for a total purchase price of US$63.3 billion (AU$88.28 billion) at an average price of US$75,413 (AU$105,184).

The Bitcoin purchase was funded by US$602 million (AU$839.7 million) in net proceeds from MSTR common stock sales, with US$30 million (AU$41.8 million) added to cash reserves and US$151.8 million (AU$211.7 million) used to repurchase STRC preferred shares.

That takes its total to 23,156 BTC, up from 21,356 the week before, cementing Strive’s spot among the world’s five biggest corporate Bitcoin holders. CEO Matt Cole confirmed the buy on X (formerly Twitter).
Meanwhile, Metaplanet, the world’s fourth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder, shifted 4,800 BTC (nearly US$377 million or AU$525 million) to Coinbase recently, sparking chatter that a sell-off could be on the cards.
Arkham Intelligence data shows this is part of a bigger pattern – Metaplanet has sent over 10,270 BTC (roughly US$806 million or AU$1.1 billion) to Coinbase this week alone, including earlier transfers of 2,000, 3,331 and 139 BTC.
Onchain Lens believes the moves point towards a potential sale, though others reckon Coinbase may simply be serving as custodian.
The Japanese firm made headlines on 19 August when it announced that it was expanding into the US. The plan includes renaming Super League Enterprise as Superplanet and making it a US Bitcoin treasury. Metaplanet said it will initially transfer 2,100 Bitcoin to the new entity.
