Thirty-nine US state bankers associations launched the BankChain Alliance on 25 August, an industry-owned, industry-designed and industry-governed blockchain network targeting a 2027 launch. Member associations represent 3,283 banks holding US$21.8 trillion in assets as of March 31, according to the alliance, which plans smart payment tools, tokenised deposits, stablecoins and automated settlement. World Liberty Financial launched USD1 natively on the Canton Network on 25 August, making the stablecoin a settlement option for tokenised real-world assets, derivatives collateral and institutional lending. Trail of Bits disclosed a Provenance Blockchain authorization flaw that it said exposed 82 live mainnet asset accounts to takeover. A successful abuse could let someone mint an affected token or withdraw assets held in escrow.Those special asset accounts, called markers, govern a token’s supply, permissions, and escrow balance.
