Nansen CEO Bets AI Trading Agents Will Outnumber Human Traders Within Two Years

Nansen co-founder and chief executive Alex Svanevik said AI trading agents could outnumber human traders within two years, in an interview published this week, as the onchain analytics firm pushes further into executing trades itself.

Svanevik also said Nansen has processed more than US$500 million (AU$720 million) in trading volume through the trading feature it launched this year. Nansen has published no volume milestone on its own blog, and the figure rests on his account alone.

Nansen turned on AI-powered trading across its web terminal and mobile app on 21 January, starting with Solana and Base. 

Execution routes through Jupiter, OKX and LI.FI, with Privy supplying embedded wallets, so the agent surfaces an opportunity and places the trade inside the same product the user was researching. Svanevik said at launch that it “closes a long-standing gap between insight and action”.

AI Supercharging Hyperliquid

On 9 June, the firm added Hyperliquid perpetuals. “Bringing Hyperliquid perps in is a step toward a world that allows investors to trade everything onchain with AI,” Svanevik said then. 

Nansen built its business on wallet labelling, and its dataset now covers more than 500 million labelled addresses, which is what its agent reads before suggesting anything. Two guides published in June, one of them titled “Trade Everything Onchain with AI”, show how far the product has moved from dashboards.

The agent basically finds opportunities and places orders with the user still approving them. Svanevik has argued for a “trust ladder”, handing agents progressively more responsibility as they prove themselves, and has said Nansen runs about 75 Claude agents internally.
