- World Liberty Financial launched USD1 natively on the Canton Network on 25 August, making the stablecoin a settlement option for tokenised real-world assets, derivatives collateral and institutional lending.
- USD1’s circulation stands at US$4.08 billion (AU$5.71 billion), sixth among stablecoins, according to DefiLlama, while Canton says it processes more than US$9 trillion (AU$12.6 trillion) in real-world assets onchain each month.
- The launch lands eight months after Canton announced World Liberty’s intention to deploy, when USD1’s circulation had just passed US$2 billion (AU$2.8 billion).
World Liberty Financial, the Trump family-backed crypto venture, launched its USD1 stablecoin natively on the Canton Network on 25 August, giving institutions on the privacy-enabled blockchain a dollar token for settling transactions in tokenised real-world assets.
USD1 can now serve as the cash leg for tokenised securities and other financial assets, including derivatives collateral, institutional lending, asset issuance and redemptions, and cross-border payments, according to the launch announcement. Native issuance means the stablecoin settles alongside the tokenised assets it pays for in the same transaction, under Canton’s permissioning and privacy controls.
“USD1 is now natively issued on Canton”, World Liberty confirmed in a post on X, describing the network as purpose-built for institutional finance with leading global financial institutions at the table.

USD1’s circulation stands at US$4.08 billion (AU$5.71 billion), sixth among stablecoins behind only USDT, USDC, USDS, DAI and Ethena’s USDe, according to DefiLlama data on 26 August.
BitGo Bank & Trust issues the token, manages its reserves and processes mints and redemptions, with backing held in short-term US Treasuries, government money market funds and US dollar deposits, according to World Liberty.
A Dollar Leg for Tokenised Assets
USD1 debuted in March 2025 and has since expanded across new chains and into tokenised commodities.
“Institutions have put trillions in US Treasuries and government debt onchain, but the dollar leg of settlements still runs on outdated infrastructure, creating a gap where the cost and the risk sit”, World Liberty Financial co-founder and chief operating officer Zak Folkman stated in the announcement. “Canton and native USD1 together allow real-world assets to access a dollar that settles alongside them with speed and privacy.”
Digital Asset co-founder and head of network strategy Eric Saraniecki noted that as more stablecoins become natively available on Canton, “institutions gain greater flexibility in how they fund, settle, and move liquidity across applications and markets.”
Canton, built by Digital Asset and governed by the Canton Foundation with participation from global financial institutions, says it processes more than US$9 trillion (AU$12.6 trillion) in real-world assets onchain each month.
Canton announced World Liberty’s intention to deploy USD1 on 16 December 2025, when the stablecoin’s circulation had just passed US$2 billion (AU$2.8 billion).
