- Analyst firm The Kobeissi Letter counted a record 4.2 billion Solana transactions in July, up 13.5% on June and 91% above December 2025.
- Validators are in the final epoch of Solana’s first formal governance vote on SIMD-0550, which would remove about 18.9 million SOL of issuance over six years, and SIMD-0553.
- All three ballot measures had met quorum by Aug. 28, and the disinflation proposal’s own modelling puts nominal staking yields at 2.25% by year three if it passes.
Solana’s network processed a record 4.2 billion transactions in July, according to analyst firm The Kobeissi Letter, while validators entered the final epoch of the network’s first formal governance vote on proposals that include cutting about US$1.5 billion (AU$2.08 billion) in new SOL issuance over six years.

Three Measures On The Ballot
Voting opened Aug. 23 and runs to the end of epoch 1023, still in progress early Friday, with three measures on the ballot, which are a governance constitution, SIMD-0550 and SIMD-0553.
SIMD-0550, submitted in June by two engineers at infrastructure firm Helius, doubles Solana’s annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%, bringing the network to its 1.5% terminal inflation rate around the first half of 2029 instead of 2032.
The authors put the issuance removed at about 18.9 million SOL over six years, worth about US$1.51 billion (AU$2.1 billion) when proposed.
SIMD-0553, published by research firm Temporal in July, splits the flat 5,000-lamport transaction fee into a 2,500-lamport inclusion fee and a resource fee that is burned in full. Temporal projects daily burns rising from about 648 SOL to between 7,500 and 9,000 SOL at the terminal rate, and models net annual supply growth near 1.05% by 2029 if both pass.
All three proposals had met quorum on the official governance dashboard by early Friday, with 47.29% of staked SOL participating on the disinflation measure and 42.08% on the fee change.
Votes cast ran 68.58% in favour of the former and 62.45% in favour of the latter; passage requires a two-thirds supermajority of votes cast, with abstentions counting toward quorum only.
