U.S. Mint 1776-2026 Palladium Eagle Launches With 250 Privy

West Point-struck 2026-W $25 Uncirculated American Palladium Eagles go on sale from the United States Mint today at noon ET, featuring a 1776 ~ 2026 dual date, a Liberty Bell privy mark with the numeral 250, and a limited mintage of just 5,000 coins — below the final sales of nearly every previous Palladium Eagle.

The special elements add the Palladium Eagle to a growing lineup of 2026 U.S. coins carrying Semiquincentennial designs, including this year’s circulating coinage and collector issues such as American Eagle gold and silver coins. Each Palladium Eagle contains one ounce of .9995 fine palladium.

Popular Design and Series History

The obverse features a high-relief version of Adolph A. Weinman’s Winged Liberty design, first introduced on the 1916 Mercury dime. Its enduring popularity has led the U.S. Mint to revisit the design several times, including for the 2016 centennial gold dime and again this year as part of its Best of the Mint series.

The American Palladium Eagle is a relative newcomer to the U.S. Mint’s American Eagle lineup. The series debuted in 2017 after being authorized by Congress under Public Law 111-303.

Since then, releases have rotated among bullion, proof, reverse proof and uncirculated finishes. Earlier issues are no longer available from the U.S. Mint, with their sales totals listed below:

At 5,000 coins, the 2026 mintage is lower than the final sales total of every previous American Palladium Eagle, bullion and collector versions alike, except last year’s 2025-W Reverse Proof, which the Mint made unavailable after sales reached 3,991.

As with other U.S. Mint precious-metal products, Palladium Eagle pricing has varied considerably over the years. The 2018 Proof, for example, debuted at $1,387.50, while last year’s Reverse Proof opened at $1,695.

American Palladium Eagle Coin Designs

Weinman’s artistry appears on both sides of the Palladium Eagle. His Winged Liberty portrait is rendered in high relief on the obverse, while the reverse features a high-relief eagle design adapted from the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal.

Obverse inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and 1776 ~ 2026, along with Weinman’s initials. A W mint mark denotes production at the West Point Mint, while a Liberty Bell privy mark containing the numeral 250 recognizes the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Reverse inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, $25, 1 OZ. Pd .9995 FINE and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

Each coin is priced at $1,895, though that amount is subject to weekly adjustments under the Mint’s precious metals pricing matrix. An initial household order limit of one coin applies.
