The United States Mint has released official images of its upcoming 2026 Green Lantern gold coin and silver medals, offering a first look at the final designs for the latest additions to its Comic Art Coin and Medal Program.

The artwork features John Stewart, Earth’s third Green Lantern, soaring above Earth with his illuminated power ring on the obverse, while the reverse centers on a raised fist and ring projecting a beam of light.

    Green Lantern Designs

Before the final selections were made, the U.S. Mint presented dozens of candidate Green Lantern designs to the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) and Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) in September 2025. Both panels review proposed U.S. coin and medal designs and provide recommendations, with the CCAC advising the Treasury Secretary on coinage themes and designs and the CFA weighing their artistic merits.

Original designs recommended by the CCAC and CFA for the 2026 Green Lantern coin and medals Both panels favored obverse O 03 but the final obverse uses O 01 shown in the coin and medal images above Their reverse recommendations differed with R 03 selected for the final design

During the advisory process, the CCAC and CFA agreed on the obverse, favoring O-03. Warner Bros. Discovery ranked O-01 first and O-03 second, and the final design ultimately uses O-01. It depicts Stewart with his illuminated power ring, soaring above Earth. His focused gaze and shield-like stance reflect his resolve, duty and willpower.

The panels split on the reverse. The CCAC recommended R-03, which was also Warner Bros. Discovery’s preferred choice and was ultimately selected for the final design. It depicts Green Lantern’s raised fist with his ring emitting a beam of light, emphasizing the ring as the source of his power. The CFA had instead backed R-05, showing a fist and power ring emerging through the Green Lantern symbol, with a construct in the background referencing Stewart’s engineering background.

The 2026 Green Lantern lineup includes a half-ounce 24-karat (.9999 fine) $50 gold proof coin struck at the West Point Mint and two 99.9% fine silver medals from the Philadelphia Mint, weighing 2.5 ounces and 1 ounce. The silver medals have a matte finish.

Green Lantern will also appear with Supergirl and Robin in the Mint’s 2026 Comic Art Three Medal Set. Priced at $130, the set will contain three matte-finish copper-nickel medals struck at the Denver Mint, each measuring 30.61 mm and weighing 11.34 grams, the same diameter and weight as a U.S. half dollar. The medals use the same character designs as their larger silver counterparts. The format debuted Aug. 3 with a three-medal set featuring Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. The Mint has not yet announced a release date for the 2026 set.

Mintage limits for the Green Lantern products have not been published. The corresponding prior issues were capped at 10,000 for each gold coin and 25,000 for each 2.5-ounce silver medal, while the 1-ounce silver medals carry no mintage limit. The Mint currently lists a household order limit of one for each of the three Green Lantern products.

As with the other Comic Art releases, the principal artwork is shared across the gold coin and silver medals. The gold coin carries required U.S. coin inscriptions, while the medals use character-focused inscriptions. Both silver medals carry LIBERTY on the obverse, with 2026 also appearing on the 2.5-ounce version. Their reverses carry GREEN LANTERN and HONORABLE AND POWERFUL.

    Release, Pricing and Availability

The Mint currently lists all three Green Lantern products as “coming soon,” with specific release dates yet to be announced.

    Current pricing is:

    • 2.5-ounce silver medal: $400
    • 1-ounce silver medal: $200
    • Half-ounce gold coin: Pricing TBD

For comparison, the Mint’s previously released 2025 Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman half-ounce gold coins are currently priced at $3,470 each.

Mintage limits for the Green Lantern products have not been published. The corresponding 2025 issues were capped at 10,000 for each gold coin and 25,000 for each 2.5-ounce silver medal, while the 1-ounce silver medals carry no mintage limit.

    Comic Art Program

Green Lantern is one of three DC characters featured in the Mint’s 2026 Comic Art lineup, alongside Supergirl, scheduled for Oct. 1, and Robin, expected on Dec. 3. The multi-year program began in 2025 with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and will continue in 2027 with The Flash, Batgirl and Aquaman.

The program was developed through a collaboration between the Mint and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, using original coin and medal artwork to highlight the characters and the values associated with them.

Collectors can track upcoming Comic Art release dates and availability, as well as other 2026 U.S. Mint products, on its website.
