Bitcoin ETFs erase a week of losses in one day as BlackRock pours in $665 million

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) attracted $526.7 million on Oct. 19, reversing the previous week’s withdrawals as BlackRock led renewed demand.

The inflow, the largest in nearly two weeks, more than doubled the $228.4 million investors withdrew during the five trading sessions ending Oct. 16, according to SoSoValue data.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) drove the recovery, attracting $665.2 million in its strongest session since Oct. 7, 2025. The purchases offset $83.6 million in withdrawals from Fidelity’s FBTC and another $54.9 million from Grayscale’s GBTC, while nine other funds reported no net flows.

The rebound coincided with Bitcoin recovering toward $82,800 on Monday after briefly falling below $80,000 last week. The cryptocurrency faced sustained selling pressure after stronger-than-expected US inflation figures revived expectations of further Federal Reserve interest rate increases.

However, investor demand for Bitcoin ETFs has remained volatile despite the price recovery.

The funds recorded about $907 million in combined withdrawals over the preceding two weeks, including $679 million during the week ended Oct. 9. Monday’s purchases offset more than half of those losses, leaving about $380 million in net withdrawals over the three-week period.

Daily flows have also alternated between inflows and outflows for six consecutive trading sessions, highlighting the difficulty investors have faced establishing sustained positions amid uncertainty over US monetary policy.

The latest inflows lifted cumulative net investment into Bitcoin ETFs to $57.40 billion, while total assets reached $105.46 billion, equivalent to approximately 6.4% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization, according to SoSoValue.

BlackRock’s Bitcoin dominance contrasts with deepening Ethereum ETF withdrawals

BlackRock’s outsized contribution underscores demand concentration in the Bitcoin ETF market, where the largest asset manager continues to attract substantial capital even as rival funds see withdrawals.

The $665.2 million IBIT inflow accounted for roughly 126% of the market’s net purchases on Monday, showing how demand for a single product can overwhelm selling across competing funds.

The concentration also comes as the wider cryptocurrency ETF market experiences increasingly divergent investment patterns.

US spot Ethereum ETFs lost another $103.3 million on Oct. 19. BlackRock’s Ethereum ETF (ETHA) accounted for $95.4 million of Monday’s withdrawals, creating a particularly striking divergence between the asset manager’s two flagship cryptocurrency products.

Meanwhile, this ETH ETF outflow extended a prolonged withdrawal streak that has erased more than $1.1 billion over the past 15 trading sessions.

During that period, Ethereum funds recorded just one positive session, attracting $24.8 million on Oct. 13. The sustained redemptions have reduced cumulative net inflows from nearly $14 billion to $12.84 billion.

Total assets also fell about 17%, from $17.79 billion to $14.7 billion, as investors withdrew capital and lower Ethereum prices reduced the value of remaining holdings.

Ultimately, the opposing flows left Bitcoin ETFs outperforming Ethereum products by approximately $630 million in a single session, reflecting stronger demand for Bitcoin exposure as investors reassess their cryptocurrency allocations.
