Whitman Brands has announced second and third print runs of the Official Red Book: A Guide Book of United States Coins 2026, citing strong demand for the newly redesigned edition of the hobby’s best-known reference and price guide.

First released in April 2025, the updated 2026 edition has already surpassed 315,000 copies sold, exceeding prior-year Red Book sales volumes by more than 30 percent across both retail and wholesale channels. The book also received the Numismatic Literary Guild’s 2025 Award for Extraordinary Merit for Best Book on United States Coins.
Whitman said the latest edition features expanded research, updated pricing information, and a redesigned layout intended to make the guide more intuitive for collectors. It is available in four formats.
“Our goal with the redesign was to take our flagship product to the next level for collectors — making thoughtful enhancements, adding industry-standard Greysheet pricing, and introducing a more intuitive, collector-friendly layout,” said John Feigenbaum, publisher and president and CEO of Whitman Brands.
Key Features of the 2026 Red Book
Among the changes in the redesigned edition are:
- A larger and more intuitive layout
- More than 12,000 listings covering coins, tokens, medals, sets, and other collectibles
- Updated market values in up to nine grades using Greysheet-based pricing and GSID catalog numbers
- More than 2,000 high-resolution images
- Updated research and the latest U.S. Mint data
- New articles, essays, and case studies
Additional features include fun-fact spotlights, an illustrated case study in the “Grading U.S. Coins” section focusing on Morgan dollars, and a “Collector’s Notebook” section examining current hobby topics — with this edition addressing misinformation in numismatics.

Whitman said the new print runs will incorporate minor technical corrections and will be distributed as existing inventory is replenished.
Looking Ahead to the 2027 Red Book
Work is already underway on the 2027 edition, which is scheduled for release in summer 2026 and will mark the 80th anniversary of the Red Book.
“As we shift our sights to layout of the 2027 Red Book, we stay true to our core tenet to always keep the collector in mind,” Feigenbaum said.
The upcoming edition is expected to include more than 1,000 new catalog entries, including listings for rolls, Deep Mirror Prooflike Morgan dollars, and the 2026 Semiquincentennial coinage.
Other planned updates include the return of series-specific grading guides within each chapter, the reintegration of circulation and proof-strike type values into the main price charts, and the relocation of certain commemorative gold restrikes into denomination-based listings.
Whitman also plans to offer a special collector’s edition featuring additional coverage of the 2026 Semiquincentennial coinage, along with a limited-edition leatherette hardcover honoring the Red Book’s 80-year legacy.
