Crayola Blue Crayon Recreated in 1.5 Ounces of Silver

A Crayola classic has been recreated in silver, with the familiar Blue crayon reproduced as a 1.5-troy-ounce collectible.

The piece is the first release in the new Crayola Precious Metals Crayons Collection, a licensed multiyear series from Crayola and Kevin Lipton Rare Coins of Beverly Hills, California. It was introduced Aug. 25 on opening day of the American Numismatic Association’s 2026 World’s Fair of Money in Pittsburgh.

Each collectible is designed to match the dimensions and appearance of an authentic Crayola crayon, contains 1.5 troy ounces of .999 fine silver, and is presented in Crayola-branded packaging.

Blue also links the series to the brand’s origins. It was one of eight colors in Crayola’s first crayon box in 1903, together with red, orange, yellow, green, violet, brown, and black. That eight-count box sold for five cents.

More than 120 years later, Blue serves as the starting point for a very different kind of Crayola series. Plans call for the silver series to expand over multiple years with standard colors, fan-favorite shades, rare color releases and specialty editions, giving collectors the opportunity to build color sets as additional pieces are introduced.

The silver series puts a precious metal spin on a product Crayola continues to make by the billions. The company says it produces nearly 3 billion crayons annually, primarily from paraffin wax and color pigment.

The inaugural Blue Crayon was made available at the ANA World’s Fair of Money through Lipton Coins, Fine Art & Antiques Gallery. Broader authorized distribution is planned, with additional colors expected as the collection develops.
