U.S. Mint Releases Trump $1 Coins With Limited July 4th Privy

The United States Mint today at noon ET begins selling rolls and bags containing its Philadelphia-struck 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin, featuring special anniversary elements and a limited number carrying a privy mark.

Released as part of the US Mints Semiquincentennial coinage the President Trump dollar features anniversary elements including dual dates and a 250 design detail It is offered in rolls and bags with a limited number carrying a JULY 4th privy mark

The new issue features dual dates, a likeness of President Trump on the obverse, and the Presidential Seal on the reverse with 250 inscribed on the shield to mark the nation’s Semiquincentennial.

    Options include a 25-coin roll for $61 and a 100-coin bag for $154.50.

All Trump Dollars Are Philadelphia-Struck, With No Mint Mark

Both products contain circulating-quality coins from the Philadelphia Mint that have never been placed into circulation, though they remain legal tender. Unlike most U.S. Mint roll and bag offerings of circulating-quality coins, which typically include coins from both Philadelphia and Denver, the Trump dollar products contain Philadelphia strikes only. No Trump dollars were struck at Denver.

The coins also differ from current Native American and American Innovation dollars, which carry incused edge lettering that includes the year of minting, mint mark and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Trump dollars have plain edges and carry no mint mark.

    JULY 4th Privy Mark

Those rolls and bags also contain a scarcer privy-mark issue. The Mint struck 250,000 dollars at the Philadelphia Mint on Independence Day with a JULY 4th privy mark and randomly included them in the same products.

Trump $1 Coin Designs and Specifications

As previously discussed by CoinNews, the coin’s obverse features a portrait of President Trump with the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and the dual date 1776 ~ 2026. U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna designed the portrait based on an official White House photograph by Daniel Torok.

The reverse, designed and sculpted by former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro, shows the Presidential Seal. The numeral 250 appears in the shield to mark the nation’s Semiquincentennial. Additional reverse inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR.

    Coin Specifications

    Denomination: $1 Coin
    Finish: Circulating
Composition: 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel, balance copper
    Weight: 8.100 grams
    Diameter: 1.043 inches (26.49 mm)
    Edge: Plain
    Mint: Philadelphia
    Mint Mark: None

    Authorizing Law

The Mint, in announcing the release, also cited the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, Public Law 116-330, as authority for the coin. The law permits the Treasury Secretary to issue a new $1 coin in 2026 with a design emblematic of the nation’s Semiquincentennial. While it prohibits portraits of living individuals on the reverse of coins issued under the program, it includes no corresponding restriction on the obverse, where Trump’s likeness appears.

    Ordering Information and Limits

Rolls and bags of 1776 ~ 2026 President Donald J. Trump $1 Coins may be ordered directly from the U.S. Mint through its Semiquincentennial products page.

Product limits are 150,000 rolls and 50,000 bags. The initial household order limit is two of each product and remains in effect until 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 3.

If both products sell out, they would contain 8.75 million coins. That is 250,000 fewer than the 9 million Trump dollars the Philadelphia Mint reported striking in July.

    Trump 24K Gold Coin

A 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump 24K One-Ounce Gold Proof Coin is also planned by the U.S. Mint, according to a Federal Register notice, and as discussed earlier on CoinNews.
