U.S. Mint Opens Sales of 1776-2026 Mayflower Compact Quarter

Rolls and bags of the new 2026 Mayflower Compact quarter go on sale today at noon ET through the United States Mint, launching a five-coin, yearlong series celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Collectors can purchase circulation-quality coins struck at the Philadelphia or Denver Mints in either a two-roll set or 100-coin bags. No San Francisco Mint roll option is offered, unlike in previous years.

For the 2026 semiquincentennial, the U.S. Mint is issuing a range of unique circulating coins. The nickel retains familiar designs from recent years but is modified to include dual dates of 1776 ~ 2026. By contrast, the dime, the five quarters, and the half dollar feature entirely new, one-year-only designs. CoinNews described all of these coins in more detail in December.

Beyond collector products, Mayflower Compact quarters entered general circulation on Jan. 5.

    Semiquincentennial Mayflower Compact Quarter Designs

The obverse (heads side) of the new quarter dollar depicts two Pilgrims embracing as they gaze upon the New World. Having arrived outside their intended destination, the Pilgrims lacked a charter to establish a colony at Plymouth. As a result, the Mayflower Compact — signed on Nov. 21, 1620 — formed the basis of the settlement as a cooperative endeavor, deriving its legal authority from the consent of the colonists to serve the common good. The Mayflower Compact is widely regarded as a forerunner of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

Inscriptions on the obverse include “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1776 ~ 2026,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The design was created by artist Ronald D. Sanders, with sculpting by Eric David Custer.

On the reverse (tails side), the quarter depicts the Mayflower under full sail, navigating rough seas as it heads west. The Pilgrims aboard were seeking religious freedom in the New World, ultimately landing at Cape Cod and establishing a settlement that later became Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Reverse inscriptions read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “MAYFLOWER COMPACT,” and “25¢.” The design was created by Cyrus E. Dallin, with sculpting by Phebe Hemphill.

    Quarter Products, Prices and Ordering

Mayflower Compact quarters are available in the following product options at these prices:

    • Two-roll sets (40 quarters each from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints) — $56
    • 100-coin bags (from either the Philadelphia or Denver Mint) — $63

Product limits are set at 5,200 two-roll sets, with 3,100 of each 100-coin bag available. Initial household order limits are three roll sets and ten of each bag.

Orders for the new quarter dollar rolls and bags may be placed through the U.S. Mint’s online catalog.

    Semiquincentennial Quarters

Congress authorized the Semiquincentennial Quarters under the broader Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 (Public Law 116-330). Under the act, five new quarters are to be issued in 2026, each “emblematic of the United States semiquincentennial.”

The five 2026 Semiquincentennial quarters include the following, with noted release timing for their associated bags and rolls:

    • Mayflower Compact Quarter (this release)
    • Revolutionary War Quarter (scheduled for March 27)
    • Declaration of Independence Quarter (scheduled for June 16)
    • U.S. Constitution Quarter (Summer release)
    • Gettysburg Address Quarter (Fall release)

Like today’s quarter, the other designs will also be included in future numismatic products, including the Mint’s clad and silver proof sets as well as its uncirculated set.
