US$3 Billion in ‘Idle’ XRP Heads to DeFi as Xaman and Flare Streamline Access

More than 2 billion XRP tokens, valued at about US$3 billion (AU$4.2 billion), have remained outside decentralised finance despite representing roughly 3.5% of the circulating supply. Much of this liquidity sits in Xaman wallets and has historically been excluded from DeFi due to technical hurdles such as bridging, managing gas tokens and setting up additional wallets.

Flare and Xaman have now launched an integration designed to remove those barriers by enabling XRP holders to deposit tokens into a curated vault on the Flare blockchain through a single in-wallet transaction. The process is embedded directly within the existing Xaman wallet interface, eliminating the need to interact with multiple decentralised applications or manage separate private keys.

The Single-Transaction Model

The framework relies on FAssets, which create a trust-minimised representation of XRP for use with smart contracts, and Flare Smart Accounts, which allow users to authorise transactions using their existing XRPL credentials. Behind the scenes, Flare’s Data Connector verifies transactions, while Smart Account controllers oversee minting, vault allocation and yield distribution.

“This integration lets our users explore new options directly from the wallet they already know, while keeping full control of their keys and decisions,” said Wietse Wind, founder of Xaman.

Vault strategies are managed by Upshift and curated by Clearstar, focusing on lending markets, collateralised positions and structured products. FXRP supply has exceeded 100 million tokens, with more than 60 million deployed across staking and structured programmes.
