Rolls and bags of the second of five quarter dollars to be issued this year in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence debut today at noon ET with the release of the 1776 ~ 2026 Revolutionary War quarter.

Collectors can purchase circulation-quality coins struck at the Philadelphia or Denver Mints in 100-coin bags or a two-roll set. No San Francisco Mint roll option is offered, unlike in previous years.

For the 2026 semiquincentennial, the U.S. Mint has modified the imagery on the nation’s circulating coins. The cent and nickel retain their familiar designs but include the dual date 1776 ~ 2026. The dime (without Roosevelt), five quarters, and half dollar (without Kennedy), however, feature entirely new one-year-only designs, as detailed by CoinNews in December.

In addition to collector products, Revolutionary War quarters entered general circulation on March 23.

    Semiquincentennial Revolutionary War Quarter Designs

Designed and sculpted by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, the obverse (heads side) showcases George Washington, the nation’s first President and Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Inscriptions read E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 1776 ~ 2026.

Designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Craig A. Campbell, the reverse (tails side) depicts a Continental Army soldier at Valley Forge. After suffering defeat at the Battle of Brandywine, General Washington’s troops endured disease and brutal winter conditions during their 1777–1778 encampment. Although independence had been declared the previous July, the Second Continental Congress was compelled to flee Philadelphia to avoid a British advance. The soldier’s determined expression reflects the resolve to persevere through hardship in pursuit of liberty. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, 25¢, and REVOLUTIONARY WAR.

Revolutionary War quarters are available in the following product options at these prices:

    • Two-roll sets (80 quarters, 40 from each of the Philadelphia and Denver Mints) — $56
    • 100-coin bags (from either the Philadelphia or Denver Mint) — $63

Earlier this week, initial household order limits were set at three for rolls and ten per bag, but have since been reduced to two of each product option.

Orders for the new quarter rolls and bags may be placed through the U.S. Mint’s online catalog.

    Semiquincentennial Quarters

The Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 (Public Law 116-330) passed by Congress authorized the redesign of the 2026 quarters with each required to be “emblematic of the United States semiquincentennial.”

For the 2026 Semiquincentennial, we will see the following quarters with the listed release dates as provided by the U.S. Mint:

    • Mayflower Compact Quarter (February 5)
    • Revolutionary War Quarter (this release)
    • Declaration of Independence Quarter (June 16)
    • U.S. Constitution Quarter (Summer release)
    • Gettysburg Address Quarter (Fall release)

These quarters will also be included in future numismatic products, including the Mint’s clad and silver proof sets as well as its uncirculated set.
