CCAC to Review Innovation $1 Designs for OR, KS, WV, and NV

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, April 21, to review and discuss U.S. Mint candidate designs for 2027 American Innovation dollars honoring innovations in Oregon, Kansas, West Virginia, and Nevada.

Established in 2003, the CCAC is a federal panel that advises the Secretary of the Treasury on themes and designs for all U.S. coins and medals.

Authorized by Public Law 115-197, the U.S. Mint’s American Innovation $1 Coin Program is a multi-year series honoring significant innovations and innovators from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. The series features a common obverse bearing a dramatic likeness of the Statue of Liberty, while each reverse highlights an invention, breakthrough, or achievement tied to a specific jurisdiction.

The Mint works with the governor or other chief executive of each state, territory, or city, along with subject matter experts, to develop design concepts representing innovations significant to the jurisdiction and its role in the nation. The Secretary of the Treasury selects the final design for each coin, generally following recommendations from the CCAC and the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts (CFA).
