Kelleher to Present $20M Exhibit at Boston 2026 World Expo

Kelleher Auctions will present a $20 million collectibles exhibit at the Boston 2026 World Expo, with coins, a Colonial-era bank note and the PCGS All-Time Finest set of circulation-strike Walking Liberty half dollars among the highlights.

    1919-D and 1921-D Walker PCGS MS66
Shown are two PCGS MS66 Walking Liberty half dollars from the Gerald Forsythe Collection, part of the PCGS All-Time Finest set being displayed by Kelleher Auctions at the Boston 2026 World Expo. At left is the finest known 1919-D, and at right is a toned 1921-D, one of four graded PCGS MS66 with none higher. (Images courtesy of Kelleher Auctions.)

The public exhibit, scheduled for May 23 – 30 at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center, will feature the Gerald Forsythe Collection of Walking Liberty Half Dollars Basic Set, Circulation Strikes 1916 – 1947. The 65-coin set is complete and carries a PCGS grade point average of 66.86, according to Kelleher.

Seven proof Walking Liberty half dollars from the Forsythe Collection will also be displayed, bringing the total number of Walkers in the exhibit to 72.

“This unique display in Boston will help attract visitors to numismatics and showcase our expansion of private treaty consignments and sales of other collectibles,” stated David Coogle, co-chairman of Kelleher Auctions.

Highlights include a 1919-D Walking Liberty half dollar graded PCGS MS66, the only example in that grade with none higher in the PCGS Population Report. PCGS describes the issue as “a major 20th-century condition rarity in Gem condition.”

Another key coin is a 1921-D Walking Liberty half dollar graded PCGS MS66. It is one of four certified at that level by PCGS, with none higher. The 1921-D had a mintage of 208,000 pieces, the lowest in the Walking Liberty half dollar series.

Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, Walking Liberty half dollars were struck from 1916 to 1947 and are widely considered among the most attractive U.S. coin designs. The series is challenging in high grades because of strike issues and low survival rates for many dates.

Another numismatic highlight is a $50 “Independence” Colonial-era bank note issued in North Carolina in 1780 during the Revolutionary War. The note is graded PMG 30 Very Fine.

“The historic ‘Independence’ inscription and bold colonial-era typography make this an especially desirable example for collectors of Continental and Colonial paper money,” Coogle said.

Kelleher Auctions will also display a China Gold Panda set dated from 1982 to 2025.

Other items in the exhibit include five examples of the 1918 Inverted Jenny airmail stamp error, a Babe Ruth 1916 Boston Red Sox baseball card, early cards of Ty Cobb and Lou Gehrig, an 1876 letter addressed to a soldier killed at the Battle of Little Bighorn, and a 1790 document signed by then-Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson involving the post office.

The Boston 2026 World Expo will be held at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center, 415 Summer Street.

Public hours for the Boston 2026 World Expo are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Saturday, May 23, through Friday, May 29, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 30. Admission is free.
