Trump $1 Coin Rolls and Bags Launch Sept. 2; 24K Gold Coin Revealed

The U.S. Mint has set Sept. 2 for the release of rolls and bags containing the new 1776 ~ 2026 $1 coin featuring President Donald J. Trump, with prices formally established this week at $61 for a 25-coin roll and $154.50 for a 100-coin bag. The products are part of the Mint’s yearlong celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. A newly published Federal Register notice also lists a 2026 Trump 24K one-ounce gold proof coin, though its price and release date remain to be announced.

The prices, published Aug. 12 in the Federal Register and effective Aug. 14, match those charged this year for 25-coin rolls and 100-coin bags of the 2026 Native American dollar and four 2026 American Innovation dollars. All are no longer available from the Mint, except for rolls of the recently released Minnesota Innovation dollar.

Philadelphia-Struck Dollars Only

Unlike those two dollar programs, which have offered coins from both Philadelphia and Denver, the Trump dollar products will contain only Philadelphia-struck coins.

No Edge Lettering

The dollars have a circulating finish, plain edges and no mint mark. By comparison, 2026 Native American and American Innovation dollars have lettered edges incused with the year (2026), mint mark (P or D) and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

Much Higher Product Limits

The Trump dollar products also carry much higher product limits. The Mint lists limits of 150,000 rolls and 50,000 bags, compared with the most recent Minnesota Innovation dollar release, which was limited to 8,400 Philadelphia rolls, 7,350 Denver rolls, 3,150 Philadelphia bags and 2,950 Denver bags.

Coin Designs

As previously discussed by CoinNews, the coin’s obverse depicts Trump and carries the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and the dual date 1776 ~ 2026. U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna designed the portrait based on an official White House photograph by Daniel Torok.

The reverse uses former Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro’s Presidential Seal design, modified with “250” within the shield to mark the Semiquincentennial.

“The designs on this coin commemorate America’s Semiquincentennial through its depiction of America’s past, present and future,” said Mint Director Paul Hollis. “I am honored to be a part of this historic milestone in our Nation’s coinage and its history.”

The gold-colored dollar contains no precious metal. Its composition, weight and diameter match those of the current Native American and American Innovation dollars: 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, with a weight of 8.10 grams and diameter of 26.49 millimeters.

Trump 24K Gold Coin Also Listed

Wednesday’s Federal Register notice also revealed another Trump-related Mint product: a 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump 24K One-Ounce Gold Proof Coin. The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) reviewed potential designs for the gold coin in March.

Its retail price is listed as “TBD,” and the notice does not provide a release date or other product details. Under the Mint’s current precious-metals pricing matrix, however, the “Semiquincentennial 1oz 24K Gold Proof” column indicates the coin would be priced at $5,340 if released today, based on an LBMA gold range of $4,300 to $4,349.99 per ounce. The Mint adjusts prices for precious-metal products as underlying metal prices move between established ranges.

The Mint’s Aug. 4 announcement of the Trump dollar designs had mentioned only the forthcoming $1 coin rolls and bags.
