- Trump disclosed buying up to US$100,000 worth of Strategy shares on 27 July, following another smaller purchase three days earlier.

A recent US Office of Government Ethics filing reveals that US President Donald Trump made several crypto-related share transactions. On 27 July, Trump bought between US$50,001 to US$100,000 (AU$71,138 to AU$142,283) worth of Strategy (Class A) shares, following a smaller purchase on 24 July and a small sale on 8 July.
Strategy is the public company with the largest Bitcoin holdings, and its founder and chairman, Michael Saylor, is well known for being a Bitcoin bull. The company recently resumed its BTC purchases after a three-week break.
Its latest purchase of 950 BTC brought its total holdings to 846,000 BTC as of 20 September 2026. Twenty One Capital, the second-largest publicly traded Bitcoin treasury company, holds “just” 43,514 BTC.
On 29 July, Trump also sold some shares of Bitcoin miners CleanSpark Inc and MARA Holdings Inc. Both transactions were worth between US$15,001 to US$50,000 (AU$21,343 to AU$71,149). He also bought between US$1,001 to US$15,000 (AU$1,422 to AU$21,340) in Coinbase Global Inc (Class A) shares on 24 July 2026.
The filing didn’t reveal how many shares of each company Trump currently holds.
In addition to his purchases of crypto-related companies, he also made several large municipal bond purchases, including Miami-Dade County FL Aviation Revenue bonds, St. Louis County MO School District bonds, Main Street Natural Gas Inc GA bonds, iShares Russell 1000 ETF, as well as various fixed-income ETFs.

Interestingly, his largest sales were on 20 July, when he sold between US$5,000,001 to US$25,000,000 (AU$7,113,595 to AU$35,567,971) in Microsoft Corp and Amazon.com Inc shares.
White House Says No Conflicts of Interest Exist
Trump has been criticised for questionable practices surrounding his investments. Following his re-election, he issued a memecoin in his name as well as one in his wife Melania’s name. He is said to have profited from this and other crypto deals to the tune of over US$1 billion (AU$1.42 billion).
Earlier in 2026, he bought shares of AI software maker Palantir before praising the company on his social media accounts. Palantir is a contractor for the US Government and works with the US Department of Defense and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

A White House spokesperson told the BBC that Trump’s portfolio is managed by third-party operators and that there aren’t any conflicts of interest.
Neither President Trump nor any member of his family has any ability to direct, influence or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold.
