The Perth Mint closed 2025 with mixed results for its Australian bullion sales. December totals declined for both gold and silver, while full-year figures showed gold finishing higher than 2024 and silver ending the year lower.
The Mint’s performance played out against soaring precious metal prices. In December, LBMA prices (USD) advanced 2.8% for gold and 33.5% for silver. Over the course of the year, gold prices jumped 65%, while silver rallied 149.1%.
Perth Mint Silver Bullion Sales — December and Full-Year 2025
Silver bullion sales eased for a second straight month, totaling 597,873 ounces in December, down 31.7% from November and 43.5% below year-earlier levels.
“December is traditionally a quieter period for precious metals as customers turn their attention to the holiday and festive season,” said Neil Vance, The Perth Mint’s General Manager of Minted Products.
“We saw particularly strong demand for our silver 1oz kangaroo coins and our 1oz silver minted bars, including both kangaroo and lunar designs, reflecting continued investor appetite for trusted, quality products.”
As for 2025, silver bullion sales totaled 7,285,537 ounces. Annual comparisons show sales were:
- 25.8% lower than 9,813,384 ounces in 2024
- 51.1% lower than 14,896,564 ounces in 2023
- 68.6% lower than 23,176,142 ounces in 2022
- 61.8% lower than 19,091,681 ounces in 2021
- 55.7% lower than 16,452,490 ounces in 2020
- 37.1% lower than 11,573,602 ounces in 2019
- 21.2% lower than 9,243,058 ounces in 2018
- 24.4% lower than 9,636,408 ounces in 2017
- 40.5% lower than 12,236,766 ounces in 2016
- 37.2% lower than 11,595,504 ounces in 2015
- 3.7% lower than 7,567,467 ounces in 2014
- 15.8% lower than 8,647,862 ounces in 2013
Perth Mint Gold Bullion Sales — December and Full-Year 2025
The Perth Mint reported gold bullion sales of 35,885 ounces in December, down 46.2% from November but 13.1% higher than December 2024.
“In gold, minted bars performed strongly, reinforcing their ongoing appeal as a core investment choice during periods of market volatility,” Vance said.
For the full year, gold bullion sales totaled 465,856 ounces. Annual comparisons show sales were:
- 19% higher than 391,606 ounces in 2024
- 30% lower than 665,889 ounces in 2023
- 58.3% lower than 1,116,969 ounces in 2022
- 55.6% lower than 1,050,242 ounces in 2021
- 40.2% lower than 778,797 ounces in 2020
- 19.6% higher than 389,463 ounces in 2019
- 15.9% higher than 402,049 ounces in 2018
- 27.5% higher than 365,410 ounces in 2017
- 10.5% lower than 520,295 ounces in 2016
- 2.2% higher than 455,630 ounces in 2015
