Circulating-quality coins struck at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints become available at noon ET in 100-coin bags and a two-roll set containing 40 coins from each facility. U.S. Mint-branded rolls and bags of earlier 2026 releases have sold quickly.
For the 2026 semiquincentennial, the U.S. Mint has modified the imagery on the nation’s circulating coins. The cent and nickel retain their familiar designs but include the dual date 1776 ~ 2026. The dime (without Roosevelt), five quarters, and half dollar (without Kennedy), however, feature entirely new one-year-only designs, as detailed by CoinNews in December.

Declaration of Independence quarters may also be found in circulation, as the Mint began shipping them to Federal Reserve Banks on June 1.
Semiquincentennial Declaration of Independence Quarter Designs
A left-facing portrait of Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence and the nation’s third president, appears on the obverse of each new quarter. Inscriptions read E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST and 1776 ~ 2026.

The reverse, designed by Benjamin Sowards and sculpted by John McGraw, depicts the Liberty Bell in motion, with its familiar crack symbolizing the fragility of the young nation at its founding. Inscriptions read THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, QUARTER DOLLAR, LIBERTY and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
