The United States Mint will release three Liberty Bell-shaped products, including two high-denomination gold coins and a silver medal produced in extremely limited quantities to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

Sales of the three limited-edition products will open at noon ET on Thursday, July 16, with the following details:
The three proof releases weigh one ounce, one-half ounce and one-half ounce, respectively. Each has a mintage and product limit of 2,026, matching the anniversary year, with household orders limited to one of each.
Shaped in the outline of the Liberty Bell, the gold pieces are described by the U.S. Mint as the first non-round coins in recent U.S. history, while the companion piece is its first recent non-round medal.
The concept was first publicly detailed in late 2024, when the Mint began considering Liberty Bell-shaped gold coins and a silver medal for the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Their unusual forms resulted from years of planning and innovation, according to the Mint. Each piece was hand-loaded and pressed in the Research and Development Lab at the Philadelphia Mint, with quantities restricted because of the detail and precision required during production.
Both gold coins are struck in .9999 fine gold. The one-ounce version carries a $250 denomination, while the half-ounce coin has a face value of $125.
Their obverse depicts the Liberty Bell with its famous crack and LIBERTY across the shoulder. Additional inscriptions include the dual date 1776 ~ 2026 and IN GOD WE TRUST.
Independence Hall appears on the reverse with fireworks in the background. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is inscribed across the bell’s yoke, with E PLURIBUS UNUM below. The sound bow identifies each coin’s denomination, weight and .9999 FINE GOLD composition.
Despite containing twice as much gold, the one-ounce coin is only slightly larger than its half-ounce counterpart. It measures 0.888 inch by 1.024 inches and is 0.167 inch thick. The half-ounce coin measures 0.883 inch by 1.024 inches and is 0.104 inch thick.
Liberty Bell Silver Medal
Struck in 0.500 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the proof medal carries the same basic Liberty Bell and Independence Hall imagery but lacks a denomination.
Its obverse presents the bell with LIBERTY across its shoulder. On the reverse, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA appears on the yoke and the dual date 1776 ~ 2026 is placed along the sound bow.
The silver medal measures 0.888 inch by 1.024 inches, matching the length and width of the one-ounce gold coin, and has a thickness of 0.160 inch.
All three pieces have smooth edges and were produced at the Philadelphia Mint, bearing its P mint mark on their reverses.
The releases form part of the U.S. Mint’s extensive Semiquincentennial program celebrating 250 years of American independence. Other 2026 offerings include redesigned circulating coins, dual-dated collector products, Liberty Bell privy marks and modern interpretations of historic U.S. coinage.
